Part 1: What is a Data Breach? 

  • Carlin Dornbusch, President of American Cyber Security Management, will provide his expert advice on how Coloradans can protect themselves from data breaches. Carlin will discuss how data breaches affect individuals while providing insight into a few large data breaches that dominated news cycles in recent years. He will then share steps Coloradans can take to better protect their information online. 

Part 2: Fraudulent Unemployment Claims Case Study 

  • Shameka Walker, Identity Theft Program Manager at the Federal Trade Commission, will provide information about how identity theft can happen and share available resources on the Commission’s identitytheft.gov website. 
  • Joe Barela, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, will share what the Department is doing to help Coloradans recover from identity theft resulting in fraudulent unemployment insurance claims.
