On June 4, 2019, American Cyber Security Management, in conjunction with Husch Blackwell, will host a free, all-day data privacy training event called the Rocky Mountain Privacy Forum. The Privacy Forum will proceed and support the extremely well attended and popular Rocky Mountain Information Security Conference (RMISC). This annual conference, which is the premier security event in the Rocky Mountain Region, combines the forces of ISSA and ISACA to bring an affordable knowledge-building IT security, privacy, and compliance training environment together under one roof.

The Privacy Forum is open to anyone interested in learning more about data privacy and protection plus CPEs and CLEs will be available for the event. The Privacy Forum will cover regulations (GDPR, CCPA, state, and Federal) as well as provide practical guidance around building a privacy program and explaining Privacy by Design concepts. In addition to various speakers and multiple panels, resources from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) will be closing out the day to provide resources and additional training guidance. IAPP is providing 6 CPE credits for the entire event, to individuals holding CIPP/U, CIPP/E or CIPM certificates. The Colorado BAR Association is providing 6 CLE credits.

In the afternoon as we transition to the main RMISC event, Michelle Dennedy, the VP and Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) at CISO will open the RMISC as the evening’s Keynote.   Michelle is a sought-after and provocative speaker, evangelizing new approaches and business justifications for soundly-defined, transparent security and privacy policies and systems that protect healthy safe global businesses.

The Privacy Forum and the RMISC will be held at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver, Colorado.   You can register for the free Rocky Mountain Privacy Forum at: https://www.rmisc.org/rocky-mountain-privacy-forum/

Speaker: David Stauss

Overview: The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) will go into effect on January 1, 2020. As entities struggle to comply with the CCPA, they must take into account that the California legislature is currently considering amendments to the law and the California Attorney General’s office is scheduled to issue draft interpretative regulations in the Fall 2020 and final regulations by July 1, 2020. This session will provide an overview of the CCPA, analyze current proposed amendments, and discuss the Attorney General regulation process. Moderator: David Stauss

Panelists: Thomas Codevilla, Lindsey Schultz, Greg Szewczyk

Overview: While entities struggle to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), the fact is that the CCPA is likely only the first privacy law of its kind in the United States. In the past few months, numerous state legislatures have considered similar privacy legislation and the federal government has shown renewed interest in the topic. This panel will review and discuss those proposed bills. Attendees will gain an understanding of the current privacy law landscape in this country and what may come in the next few years.
